Among werewolves, betraying your pack is the most grievous of sins, a crime punishable by death. In the ancient days, however, some wolves were given a chance to survive, albeit in disgrace as a pack's enforcer: serving as the law of the pack, theirs would be the task of performing executions, questioning the loyalties of those the alpha dare not face on his own, and defending his master's right to rule, should he be challenged. Those serving weak or corrupt alphas lived in disgrace, but on rare occasions, a wolf serving a benevolent leader could reclaim his good name through faithful service.

Though most packs simply kill traitors these days, there is one that follows the old ways. It is this pack and its alpha, Elan Lacroix, that took the disgraced Dalton into its fold. Set to be executed, Elan paid a hefty price for Dalton's freedom, and made him the enforcer of his pack. Today, Dalton lives in unabashed disgrace, a dishonored lone wolf living in the desert, but ever ready to serve his alpha and protected from rivals as a member of the Lacroix pack. Neither Elan nor Dalton will discuss the nature of his disgrace, nor the price paid for his life, but those who are fortunate enough to know Dalton know that his loyalty to Elan is absolute, and his anger is a quiet and terrible thing to invoke.
